Dog Food Commercials

"Would you feed your child dry food out of a bag? Of course not! Then why do you treat your dog this way?"
This is a paraphrase of a recent commercial selling "natural, healthy, organic" dog food. OK. Give me a break. No, I would not feed a child that way but the last time I checked, none of my children are dogs! This one of those areas where people need to step back and revisit what they are promoting.
If it offends people that I don't equate humans with animals, then so be it. But I'm offended by people comparing human children to four-legged beasts! Lets look at this phenomnenon.
Human children: helpless at birth,but quickly master walking and talking; learn to think and apply knowledge; attend school and often obtain higher learning which leads to a job or career which leads to humans becoming useful citizens contributing to society.
Dogs: born, grow, some can be trained - house, disabled helper, etc. but most remain good companions to one or more humans. They do not generate taxable income. They do not contribute to society except as companions or occasionally work dogs. They cannot speak any known languages or master higher order thinking skills. They do not obtain higher learning which enables them to have careers. I have absolutely nothing against dogs - as DOGS! Can't we enjoy them in the way they excell as wonderful companions and pets? Let's stop elevating animals to the same level as humans. Politically correct or not - it is moronic.
Love our dogs. Love our kids - but not in the same way!
